John Anthony of Raleigh recently was elected to a two-year term as chairman of the board for the United Way of North Carolina.

Anthony has been a United Way volunteer for 20 years and is a past board chairman of the United Way of the Greater Triangle. He is a 27-year banking veteran and works as retail banking executive for the Mid-Atlantic Region of First Tennessee Bank.

“This is an important time in the life cycle of our agency and that of all local United Ways,” Laura Marx, president of the UWNC, said. “We feel extremely fortunate to have someone with John’s United Way experience and professional background to lead our board as we continue to develop new ways to support our local agencies and the resident’s of North Carolina. We have a talented and engaged board, and are grateful for all of our volunteers and dedicated United Way professionals across the state.”
