One of the automobiles in Northwood Little League’s caravan headed back to South Carolina had to make some extra room for a Tournament of State Champions trophy.

Northwood completed its undefeated run at the TOSC with a 6-4 victory over Goodlettsville, Tenn., in the championship game on Wednesday at Elm Street Park. It is the first time a South Carolina team has won it all in the five-year history of the tourney.

After coming up empty despite having the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the first inning, Goodlettsville cashed in when the same scenario presented itself in the second. The Tennessee team jumped out to a 4-0 lead with the help of run-scoring infield singles by Tanner and Tyler Jones, a Northwood throwing error and Ryan Oden’s sacrifice fly to center that plated Carson Rucker and staked Goodlettsville to its four-run cushion.
