If last Sunday was all about the ceremonial start to NASCAR season, today is all about the start of NASCAR’s “real” season.
With all the restrictor plate talk shelved until the Cup series hits Talladega in May, today’s race in Atlanta will see the focus shift to getting 2016’s first glimpse at the series’ new reduced-downforce rules package.
The package ran twice last year at Kentucky and Darlington, and provided some of the best racing the Cup series has seen in years, drawing an uproar of support that made it impossible for NASCAR to ignore.
