I don’t know what I would consider the worst day of my life to be, but I figure if something stood out, I probably wouldn’t dig being asked about it on a consistent basis.
Yet, as Feb. 18 draws near on the calendar each year, that’s the life of Dale Earnhardt Jr. This year was no different, as the date brought the 15th anniversary of his father’s death on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.
Now, full disclosure: I grew up identifying Earnhardt Jr. as my favorite driver. I even had some of my senior photos in high school taken in a Budweiser No. 8 T-shirt and hat. I’m not sure what that says about the choices I’ve made in life, but I digress.
