Aside from hitting a few practice shots, Jonathan O’Neal was a spectator at the Coastal Conference tennis tournament Thursday at the River Birch Tennis Center.

Because of the dominance the South Central junior displayed during the regular season, the league’s coaches collectively decided that O’Neal didn’t need to play Thursday to earn the right to be the Coastal’s top singles representative at next week’s 3-A Eastern Regional.
