Jada Payne said during a recent interview that her goal when she transferred from La Salle to East Carolina after her freshman year was to leave the ECU women’s basketball program in a better position than when she first arrived in Greenville.
It has unfortunately been a frustrating season for East Carolina in Payne’s final go-round, but what can’t be forgotten is that she spearheaded the Pirates’ unprecedented success the last few seasons, has continued to thrive as a senior and has WNBA aspirations in her sights. I’Tiana Taylor has had a great season and DeVaughn Gray has been solid, too, as the Pirates (11-18, 5-12 American Athletic Conference) prepare to honor the seniors tonight before playing SMU at 7 p.m. for the trio’s final game in Minges Coliseum.
