East Carolina is taking on some rested teams during the late February-early March portion of its basketball schedule.
The Pirates won at Tulane on Wednesday, snapping a six-game losing streak against a Green Wave team that had a week off. At noon today in Minges Coliseum, ECU (11-17, 3-12 American Athletic Conference) hosts Cincinnati (20-8, 10-5), which has not played since beating Connecticut on Feb. 20. After taking on the Bearcats, the Pirates will travel to South Florida for a game against the Bulls, who will have had a week off before Wednesday’s 9 p.m. tip-off.
ECU got a week-long break from American play that started on Jan. 30, and today’s game will be the team’s seventh league matchup in February. Couple that busy schedule with the fact that many of the Pirates’ opponents are or have been in The Associated Press Top 25, and maybe it makes their subpar record a little more understandable.
