Jimmy Boyd and Parker Lamm played travel baseball together for the Carolina Pilots in Wilson more than 10 years ago, well before they attended separate high schools and junior colleges.

They linked back up indirectly when signing with East Carolina in 2014 and shared the field again a year ago as juniors during up-and-down moments playing at the NCAA level for the first time.

It has all come full circle as Lamm, an outfielder and former Pitt Community College standout, and Boyd, a pitcher who began his collegiate career at Brunswick CC, look to finish strong as seniors. Lamm will start in left field in the season opener Friday against Longwood, and Boyd will be ECU’s starting pitcher on Sunday if he is not used out of the bullpen earlier in the weekend.
