WINTERVILLE — A few mid-game miscues helped to unravel a potential sweep by the Pitt Community College baseball team in its home openers on a sunny Saturday afternoon that quickly turned dark and chilly.
After rallying in the first game of a twinbill to swipe a 5-4 win against visiting Brunswick, the Bulldogs (5-2) could not repeat the task in the nightcap despite carrying a 2-2 tie into the fourth inning at the Minges-Overton Complex.
BCC erupted for six runs over the next two innings to earn an eventual 9-5 win and a split in the doubleheader, which will be followed up by another two games between the teams today at the home of the Dolphins.
