Letter: Greeter's friendly nature goes noticed

0 Comments | Leave a Comment

There are greeters and there are greeters ... and then there is Gladys. Recently, my husband and I shopped at Wal-Mart in Greenville. We entered the store through the outdoor plants area, but soon moved to the center of the store. After checking out, I sat by the door to await my husband's trip to the grocery area. While sitting, I immediately noticed the greeter.

She was meeting and greeting entering shoppers, and saying goodbye to those leaving and hoping they would return. She assisted a shopper riding a mobile cart that wasn't working right. She listened patiently to an irate shopper who had left his items because the lines were too long without ruffling his feathers any further. She was so interesting to watch.

She caught my attention and I called her over. I told her, “They should clone you.” She just laughed and said, “I love my job.”
