Laurels To a Pitt County commissioners’ vote this week to move ahead on a $25.7 million bond issue for construction, repairs and renovations at both Pitt County Schools and Pitt Community College. While commissioners who voted against the move voiced important concerns about an apparent lack of project priorities, the overwhelming needs nonetheless require attention sooner rather than later. However, school officials need to make sure these commissioners’ questions are carefully considered and promptly answered.

Laurels To pharmaceutical company Mayne Pharma upon being named this year’s Industry of the Year by the Pitt County Development Commission. The company plans to invest $65 million by expanding facilities and adding 100 employees as it continues to grow and build its connections to the community. The company, headquartered in Australia, acquired Metrics Inc. of Greenville in 2012, a company that won this same honor back in 2007-2008.Congratulations are well deserved.
