Black History Month a celebration for all Americans

0 Comments | Leave a Comment

The Daily Reflector spotlights Black History Month each year with a purpose, celebrating the unique richness of African American life and black people’s contribution to the Pitt County community and the fabric of the American tapestry.

This year, the reporting focuses on a number of local African American business owners’ pursuits of entrepreneurial success.

Chris Godley’s State Farm Insurance office in Greenville is built on his desire to help others; another, Taylor Publishing, is the result of former reporter Diane Taylor’s faith in the value of people’s dreams — and her own; and Premier Sports Academy was built by former East Carolina and NFL football player Terrance Cooper to inspire and educate youth about the values of teamwork, discipline and commitment. They all are shining examples of how the pursuit excellence is a value shared by all Americans, regardless of race.
