A 15-year-old Farmville Central High School student who collapsed during class today has died. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
Charles “Jackson” Corbett, a freshman, collapsed during his JROTC class a little before 10 a.m. Paramedics were called to the scene, but attempts to revive Corbett were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at approximately 11 a.m., according to a news release from Pitt County Schools.
Members of the district’s crisis team are on site to provide counseling to students and staff as necessary. An announcement was made to students and staff today, and a call and letter also went out to all Farmville Central families to notify them of the loss, the release said.
