As if NASA astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly didn’t have his hands full with the challenge of safely shuttling scientists and materials to and from the International Space Station for 10 years, he faced the greatest challenge of his life while preparing for his final mission to space.
Kelly’s wife, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, survived a Jan. 8, 2011, assassination attempt while campaigning for re-election in her district.
Kelly is coming to Greenville on May 8 to share the story of how he faced the challenge of seeing his wife through the process of recovering from a gunshot wound to the head while finding a way in May 2011 to pilot the final space shuttle mission on the Endeavor.
