Services

  • The Anointed Ones Church of Deliverance International, 4271 N. Edge Road, Ayden, will have revival services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and at 9 a.m. Jan. 24. Perneatha Sherman of Christian Women’s Fellowship will be guest speaker.
  • Burning Bush Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5249 Whichard Road, will host an appreciation service for church secretary Maggie Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday and at 11 a.m. Jan. 24.
  • Burning Bush United Holy Church, 280 Bailey Lane, Vanceboro, will conclude its church anniversary services at 3 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Ernest Humphrey and Gospel Temple United Holy Church.
  • Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3170 E. Fire Tower Road, will host a “Hats of the Spirit” program at 3 p.m. Sunday.
  • Friendship United American Free Will Baptist Church, 182 Blizzard Road, Snow Hill, will celebrate a deacon and trustee anniversary service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Pastor William Thompson and Union Grove church of Farmville will be guests.
  • First Born Holy Church, 756 Smithtown Road, Grimesland, will host Pastor Angelene Brinkley and St. Matthew True Born Faith of Christ Church for a service at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
  • Haddocks United American Free Will Baptist Church, 111 Sunset Acres Lane, Winterville, will have a service at 3 p.m. Jan. 24 as part of the celebration of Pastor Kenneth Joyner’s anniversary. Bishop Jesse Jones and Rouse’s Abundant Life Ministries will be guests.
  • Holly Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 755 Porter Road, will host the Women of Faith Fellowship conference, “Still Standing,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 23. Minister Tasha Sears of New Jerusalem Church and Missionary Phylicia Bridgers of Grace Fellowship Church of God in Christ, Hamilton, will be guest speakers. Registration fee is $10 and includes breakfast on Jan. 23.
  • Holy Trinity United Holy Church, 305 N. Skinner St., will have a service at 3 p.m. Sunday in conjunction with its 95th anniversary. Pastor Daniel House and St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church will be guests.
  • Hood Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church will celebrate friends and family day at 11 a.m. Jan. 24. The Rev. Ricardo Hardison, pastor of Green Memorial Church of Christ, Williamston, will speak, and music will be by the Martin County Male Chorus. Lunch will be served at the Jamesville Community Center.
  • House of Judah Church of God Ministries, 3867 W. Wilson St., Farmville, will host a worship service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Flamboyant Women Organization will meet at 1 p.m. today.
  • Mount Carmel Christian Church, 980 Brompton Lane, will celebrate team spirit day at 11 a.m. Sunday with former NFL player Terrance Copper. Those attending are invited to dress to support their favorite sports team.
  • Mount Zion Holy Church, 3325 Ayden Golf Club Road, Winterville, will host a “Four Seasons” program at 5 p.m. today. The church will have a youth day service at 11 a.m. Jan. 24. Holy Union services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29-31. Guests include Pastor Towanda Britt and Mount Sinai Holiness Church and Pastor Joel Stokes and True Heart Holiness Church.
  • New Beginnings Deliverance Center, 271 Queen Drive, will have its second Gospel Youth Explosion at 7:30 p.m. today and at 11 a.m. Sunday. Speakers include Pastor Kera Johnson of Bethlehem Apostolic Faith Holiness Church, Hertford and Evangelist Linda Clodfeller of Whitestone Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Washington, N.C.
  • Next Generation Church, 401 N. Railroad St., will have a Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration at 6 p.m. Sunday. Eldress Evonne Best will speak, and Eldress Sylvia Barrett will sing.
  • St. John Missionary Baptist Church Soul Saving Center, 2921 Briery Swamp Road, Stokes, will have a “Season of Power and Prosperity” service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Speakers include Pastor Freddie Hyman and Samuel Chance Sr. The church will have a senior citizens workshop at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall.
  • St. Matthew True Born Faith of Christ Church, 601 Norris St., will have quarterly meeting this weekend. A Communion service will be held at 4 p.m. today, followed by a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Deacon David Jeffery Stagger will deliver his initial sermon at 3 p.m. Sunday.
  • St. Paul Church, 3215 E. 10th St., will host winter revival at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. Speakers include Professor Antipas Harris of the Regent University School of Divinity, Virginia Beach, Va.; Director Stacy Hillard of African-American Ministries and Church Multiplication for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church; Pastor Ryan Jackson of The Capital Church, Raleigh; and the Rev. Doug Bartlett, assistant superintendent of the North Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
  • Sycamore Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 Hooker Road, will host a rainbow tea celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. Speakers include Pastor Rodney Coles of Churches Outreach Network, Assistant Pastor Anthony Hutchins of Koinonia Christian Center, Pastor Kenneth Battle of New Covenant Community Church and Pastor Tyrone Turnage of Next Generation Church.   • White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 4525 Mobley’s Bridge Road, Grimesland, will have unity day services at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 24. The Rev. William Wilson and St. Monica Missionary Baptist Church will lead the afternoon service.

EVENTS

  • A Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Vidant Medical Center auditorium. Guest speaker will be Pastor Austin B. Parker of Wells Chapel Church of God in Christ. Music will be by the D.H. Conley High School Orchestra.
  • Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 230 Boyd St., Winterville will have a workshop on physical and spiritual wellness at 10 a.m. Jan. 23. The event will feature community health representatives. Registration fee is $6.
  • Rose Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6236 County Home Road, will host a meeting of the Tuesday’s Children seniors’ ministry at 11 a.m. Tuesday Christine Clift will speak on elder abuse, and music will be by Brenda Jackson. Lunch will be served.
  • St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 E. Fourth St., will conduct its annual parish meeting and mark the Conversion of St. Paul on Jan. 24 with a parish breakfast at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service of morning prayer at 10:30 a.m.

Music

  • The Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Gospel Concert, “Glorious Praise” will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 S.W. Greenville Blvd. The event will include gospel music, liturgical dance and stories from the Bible. Admission is $5 or a charitable donation of nonperishable food or personal hygiene items.   • Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1801 S. Elm St., will host jazz artist Carroll V. Dashiell Jr. in “Music of Spiritual Connection,” at 7 p.m. Jan. 24. There is no admission charge. An offering will be accepted.
  • Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church , 9317 N.C. 43 South, Vanceboro, will have an appreciation service for musicians Ahmad Savage and Tyron Savage at 4 p.m. today.
  • Winterville Free Will Baptist Church, 489 Cooper St., Winterville, will host the Wayne Vincent Endowment Concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 23. The gospel concert is free. An offering will be accepted for the children’s summer camp fund for Cragmont Assembly.
