Edenton is a delightful destination for your autumn day trip. It's just slightly over an hour away from Greenville and filled with historic sites, beautiful 18th- and 19th -century houses, charming shops and restaurants. It is the perfect place for an even more wonderful weekend getaway, and can provide decorating ideas you can bring home.
Often called “the prettiest little town in the South,” Edenton is on the expansive Albemarle Sound, having served as a colonial port for many years — especially that of “triangular trade” between America, England and the West Indies. Expansive wharves extended into the sound to receive ships carrying exotic freight.
Now Edenton remains an active town, the county seat and hub of Chowan County.
