Usually, the beginning of summer vacation is a festive occasion for my 10-year-old daughter, Jordan, who typically spends the months of April and May counting down the days until she embarks on her annual 3-month-long whirlwind adventure in the sun. This summer, however, the end of the school year was met with more than a little apprehension.
Since kindergarten, my wife, Jenny, and I have had Jordan enrolled at Faith Christian Academy where she has been with the same group of wonderful children for the past six years. Jenny and I have come to love each of the kids like they were our own. I have no doubt they are among the best friends our daughter will ever make during her lifetime. Each of them have helped shape her into the amazing young woman I see her becoming.
However, as Faith Christian Academy only goes through fifth grade, many of the kids will be at different schools when the new school year begins.
