CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police say a 17-year old has died and another teenager has been charged after a street racing accident in Charlotte.

Authorities say two cars were racing at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in East Charlotte. One of the drivers, 18-year-old Javier Juarez-Cruz, lost control of a Ford Expedition and flipped.

Investigators say Jose Angel Juarez-Cruz was standing up with his body outside the SUV's sunroof and was thrown out when it flipped. Police say he was killed on impact. Two others were sent to the hospital.

Javier Juarez-Cruz has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. It wasn't clear if the 18-year-old had an attorney.
